APPLY FOR 2023 ELL INTERNSHIP

The Village Place Experiential Learning Lab (ELL), launched in the summer of 2021, focusing on providing hands-on opportunities for low-income, students of color in the South End community. In 2022, we expanded the ELL program by making it longer, adding workshops, serving more students (approx. 150), and offering immersive internship opportunities. As part of the ELL program, we offer the following community workshops:

• Gardening & Carpentry 101
• Cooking Classes
• Gaston's Martial Arts
• Stitching & Sewing
• Afrikan Dance Class
• Etiquette Classes
• Liberation Arts Workshop
• Resume, Cover Letter, and Personal Statement Writing Workshops
• Recycle Bikes for Kids
• Small Engine Repair
• Candle Making

Students are selected to participate in the ELL internship component through an application process. Those students participated in a 100- hour immersive internship, in three areas: automotive mechanics, welding, and urban farming. Students rotated to learn each area and work under the supervision of business owners proximal to where they live, work, and attend school.
